Floor Sanding
& Polishing
Timber floor sanding is the process of restoring an old worn wooden floor or preparing a new timber floor for finishing.
Process involves using a series of heavy duty sanding machines and abrasive grits to progressively smooth the surface, remove old coatings, and level out any imperfections. Once the sanding is complete, the raw surface can be treated with various stains and clear finishing products to provide protection and enhance the natural beauty of the wood.
Coating system depends on the desired aesthetic and durability you want to achieve, such as oil, hardwax oil, or polyurethane. It's highly recommended to hire professionals for floor sanding, as the process requires the right machinery and expertise to achieve a high-quality finish.

POLYURETHANE
Polyurethane is a synthetic resin that creates a hard, protective layer over the surface of the wood. Polyurethane has a high resistance to wear and tear and moisture, making it ideal for high traffic areas. Two of the most popular types of polyurethane are solvent-based and water-based polyurethane, with both available in a variety of finishes from matte to glossy.
Solvent-based polyurethane is a mix of wood oil and synthetic resin and is generally more durable than a water-based polyurethane but does have higher VOCs and releases more odours.
Water-based polyurethane is a mix of water and a synthetic resin that doesn’t require the same solvents as a solvent-based polyurethane, making it more environmentally friendly with lower VOCs and the more popular choice between the two.
HARDWAX OIL
The use of natural ingredients makes hardwax oil a popular choice for those seeking a more sustainable and eco-friendly wood finish. Hardwax oil is a type of wood finish that is made by blending natural oils and waxes. The oil penetrates deeply into the wood, saturating the pores and creating a protective layer on the surface, while enhancing the natural beauty of the wood grain. The wax component contributes to the finish's water resistance and durability.
